LG Leader Guide | Week of 5.11.2025
Hello LG Leaders,
We loved celebrating the mothers of our church on Sunday! We took time to pray for them after we looked at the life of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Mary is a prime example of trust and humility in the way that she responded to and waited on God to accomplish all that he promised.
If you missed it or were serving in Kids ministry, be sure to listen here. This week’s Discussion Guide and Kid’s Guide are posted.
Important Announcements:
Baby Dedications are happening this Sunday, May 18th! Registration is closed. Be there to celebrate together these new lives.
Church in the Park on Sunday, May 25th! (Memorial Day Weekend) Let’s kick off Summer together! Donuts, kolaches, and iced coffee provided. Invite a friend / coworker / neighbor!
We are updating the church events page with our summer events/dates by the end of this week! We have some fun things planned and we look forward to being together!
PRAYER UPDATE FOR MEGHAN MILLER: Their insurance approved her claim for rehab so she moved over to a nearby rehab facility on Friday! An answered prayer! Thank you Lord Jesus! Meghan has also reported feeling that she’s not getting worse, which could be a sign the treatment she received worked/is working, so praise God! That said, as you might imagine, they are cautiously optimistic…PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY as they await a test on May 20th to confirm a CIDP diagnosis which will help them know how to proceed. If that test is negative it would mean the doctors are still unsure what is causing her symptoms. (or that she’s been healed in Jesus’ name!) Prayer needs:
Pray for Mark as he balances work and caring for Meghan.
Pray for miraculous healing, renewed hope, and strength for Meghan!
Pray for wisdom for the doctors, clarity from the test on May 20th, and peace in the process.
LG SUMMER BREAK ☀️😎🏖️ Best Practices:
Don’t Drop-Off During Summer! Feeling like you’re ready for an end of Spring nap? Me too! That’s how Maycember (as I’ve heard it called) often feels. We do have our LGs take a break in Summer (June to mid-August), if the leaders/group desires, so that leaders can rest and make room for natural travel rhythms.
Having that said, it’s not helpful or healthy to drop-off completely from all relationship or contact for 3 months! 😂 Some ideas….
Assign a few people/couples in your group to plan some fun, casual, and low-bar summer get togethers or activities (perhaps 1 per month, 3 total), like a cookout, pool party, pizza at the park on a Friday, lunch after church on a Sunday, etc.
Consider continuing d-groups through summer or meet less frequently (once per month) or meet for fun/less structured hangouts.
Get creative…plan to attend church-wide activities together, regularly share prayer requests in text groups, sit together on Sundays, have people over from your LG for a dinner/summer cookout, meet at a park for a kids playdate together, etc…
At the start of summer we’re always ready for a slower pace, BUT at the end of summer I always hear people express they’re hungry for connection…let’s not stray to the right or the left but stay on the middle path! There are many ways to stay connected, not lose relational depth, and also have margin. Let’s rest and recharge well this summer!
If you have any specific questions about your LG and summer plans/expectations please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Grace and peace,
Donny Tapie
